Bill McGuire's smudged lineup card with all the crossed-out names told the story.
Larry Walker wasn't penciled into the Salem Avalanche lineup Tuesday night. He was written down in ink.
McGuire, Salem's manager, had to scratch the All-Star outfielder from the No. 3 spot when he learned Walker was stuck in Charlotte, N.C., awaiting an airplane.
Walker, the Colorado Rockies' outfielder who broke his collarbone chasing a fly ball into the Coors Field wall on June 9, was scheduled to begin a three-day rehabilitation stint Tuesday night in Salem. Bad weather grounded his plane in Charlotte.
He is expected to join the team today and be Salem's designated hitter for the final two games of the homestand.
``I think I'll fine him for being late,'' McGuire joked.
