Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Mark Warner will begin a 9th Congressional District tour today in Floyd and Montgomery counties. The public is invited to any of his events. Warner will visit all 18 counties in the 9th District - which covers the bulk of Southwest Virginia - by Wednesday.
Mark Warner is challenging Republican Sen. John Warner in the fall election.
In Floyd, Mark Warner will lunch with citizens at the Bank of Floyd at noon, then greet residents, staff and families at the the Skyline Manor Nursing Home.
In Montgomery County, he will tour the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center starting at 3:15 p.m. and meet with the Montgomery County Democrats at Bogen's restaurant, at 622 N. Main St. in Blacksburg, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The event is open to the public and there will be a $5 charge to cover snacks and soft drinks.
Friday, Warner will tour Pulaski, Grayson and Galax, beginning with the New River Room in the Pulaski County Courthouse at 8:30 a.m.
