NEW MANAGER

Lance Terpenny (above), 41, will become Christiansburg's second town manager Sept. 1 when he succeeds John Lemley, who retires that day after 40 years as the town's first manager.

Terpenny, who has been assistant town manager for five years, was selected by Town Council on Tuesday. He was the only person council considered for the job, and came with recommendations from Lemley, Blacksburg Town Manager Ron Secrist, Dan Brugh, resident engineer with the Virginia Department of Transportation, and others.
