Botetourt names assistant prosecutor
Ronnie Clay of Roanoke recently left Roanoke's second-largest law firm to become Botetourt County's first full-time assistant commonwealth's attorney.
Clay, formerly a civil lawyer with Gentry, Locke, Rakes and Moore, takes over for Mac Doubles, who had been a part-time assistant. Commonwealth's Attorney Joel Branscom lobbied the county this year for money to make the assistant's job full-time. Clay, 33, earned a degree in criminal justice from the University of Toledo in 1985, and completed law school at the College of William and Mary in 1993.
