A judge set a $75,000 bond Thursday for a former soap-opera actress accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill her husband.
Staunton Juvenile and Domestic Relations Judge Harrison May set the secured bond at a hearing for Catherine Ann Christianson. She remained jailed late Thursday afternoon, said Lt. John Greco of Augusta County.
Christianson was arrested July 24 and charged with trying to hire a hit man to kill her husband, Charles R. ``Rick'' Chittum, after the man she is accused of trying to hire went to police, who videotaped a final exchange between him and Christianson.
Christianson played a recurring role in the ABC daytime drama ``One Life to Live'' in 1991. Her last job was a 10-week run of ``Grace and Glorie'' at Roanoke's Mill Mountain Theatre in April.
Chittum filed for divorce the day after his wife's arrest and obtained sole custody of their 2-year-old son.
A preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 24 to determine whether there is enough evidence against Christianson to certify a charge to the grand jury.
