Altruist Club: Works with youth and underprivileged children. Presents annual Debutante Ball. Membership open to men and women. Meets first and third Wednesdays of each month, except for June, July, August and December. Contact Dorothy Curtis at 345-0186.
Civitan Club: Supports citizenship and good sportsmanship among students. Helps the mentally and physically handicapped and sponsors the Roanoke Valley Special Olympics. Open to men and women. Meets second and fourth Monday of each month at noon at the Holiday Inn on Orange Avenue, near the Roanoke Civic Center. Contact Dan McDilda, president, at 387-4056.
Cosmopolitan Club of Roanoke: Group raises funds for area charities and contributes to Roanoke Valley Speech and Hearing Center. Sponsors the annual Cosmopolitan Track Meet at Salem High School for junior and senior high school students. Meets Wednesdays, 12:15 p.m., at the Holiday Inn, Civic Center. Jaycees: Encourages accepting civic duty and understanding civic problems. Open to men and women ages 21 to 39. The Roanoke chapter meets second and fourth Tuesdays at the Airport Marriott at 5:30 p.m. The Cave Spring chapter meets second and fourth Mondays at the Honeywood Clubhouse at 7 p.m. The Salem Jaycees meet the first Wednesday of the month at the Salem Senior Citizens Building and third Wednesdays of the month at various locations. The Junior League of Roanoke Valley, Va. Inc.: Organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism and to improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Kiwanis: Major emphasis is on helping children. A focus is also placed on enhancing the quality of living for elderly adults and aiding handicapped individuals.

Pilot Club International: Works with handicapped individuals, provides scholarships and works to improve the quality of life in the community. Rotary Clubs: Service clubs involved in working with youth leadership projects, education, and support of Polio Plus, which seeks to immunize all children in Third World countries by the year 2005. Clubs open to men and women proposed by members.

Roanoke Civil War RoundTable: A nonprofit, nonpartisan organization interested in the study of the Civil War and the preservation of Civil War sights. Valley Network Business and Professional Women's Organization: An independent nonprofit, nonpartisan organization.
