Attempts to attract new industry to the former AT&T plant site in Fairlawn got a boost Monday from the Appalachian Regional Commission.
Rep. Rick Boucher, D-Abingdon, announced a $500,000 federal grant to help improve the New River Industrial Park by funding the construction of new water and sewer lines on the property.
Economic development officials hope the expanded facilities will make the vacant site - now owned by Pulaski County - more marketable.
For more information about the ARC grant and its effects, see today's Virginia section of The Roanoke Times.
