For the second night in a row, the Salem Avalanche-Lynchburg Hillcats Carolina League baseball game at Salem Memorial Stadium was rained out Tuesday.
The teams will play a single game today at 7 p.m. and a doubleheader Thursday beginning at 6 p.m. The teams are tentatively scheduled to play a doubleheader Aug.31 in Salem.
The Rawlings Sports Caravan will be on display before tonight's game. Beginning at 5, fans can watch gloves being made, see balls get stitched together, tour the Rawlings museum, enter a drawing for a Ken Griffey, Jr. glove and purchase Rawlings merchandise.
In other sports news in the region:
* Six Virginia Tech players scored in double figures but it wasn't enough as the Hokies fell to Varese 101-97 in a European basketball exhibition in Milan, Italy.
The game was the first of seven exhibition games the Hokies will play on this tour. Roanoke native Troy Manns led the team with 16 points and 10 assists. Ace Custis (14), David Jackson (12), Alvaro Tor (12), Kelley Mann (11) and Jim Jackson (10) were the other Hokies in double figures.
Tech will play Lugano today in Switzerland.
