WILLIAM L.S. ROSS, formerly of Roanoke, has been elected a partner in the Cleveland, Ohio, law firm of Calfee, Halter & Griswold. He has been practicing with the firm since 1982. Ross is the son of Mrs. K. Whitefield Ross of Roanoke.
ROANOKE COUNTY TREASURER ALFRED C. ANDERSON recently received the 1996 Victor E. Martinelli Outstanding Treasurer's Award from the National Association of County Treasurers and Finance Officers in recognition of his professional, civic and personal achievements during his tenure as treasurer.
FREDERICK T. NASCHOLD, formerly of Roanoke, and Charles P. Moncure Jr. have established Dominion Partners L.C., a Richmond-based investment banking firm providing capital raising and merger and acquisition advisory services to middle market companies. Naschold and Moncure previously were employed by Craigie Inc.
HARRY W. KESSLER of the Beltone Hearing Aid Center in Roanoke was named a Master Hearing Instrument Specialist at Beltone's international convention in June. Kessler services Roanoke, Salem and the surrounding areas.
JEFF LOCKHART of Consolidated Planning, corporate and individual financial planners in Wilson, N.C., has won the 1995 Equity Producer of the Year Award. The former Roanoke resident, who joined the firm in 1994, placed second in the United States within the Guardian Broker Dealer System.
CHRISTINE ONTIVEROS has completed training as a Welcome Wagon representative and will be visiting households in north Roanoke County. Ontiveros will call on people who have recently moved, new parents, engaged couples and new U.S. citizens to present gifts from local businesses and professionals. She will also distribute civic information.
LINDA G. QUESENBERRY has been elected Woman of the Year by the North Roanoke Chapter of American Business Woman's Association. She is an accounting assistant for Thor Inc., a Roanoke general contractor, where she has been employed since 1993.
LIN CHAFF PUBLIC RELATIONS & ADVERTISING of Roanoke has won a Medallion Award for superior performance for public relations during 1995 at the 49th annual Virginia Public Relations Awards ceremony held in Richmond. Chaff's award, which was in the special projects, noncommercial, low-budget category, was for the YMCA Roanoke Valley's "Partners of Youth, Winners for Life" fund-raising campaign. The firm has won the Medallion Award seven out of the past eight years.
SALLY WOODSON BOWLES, business/lease manager for Rick Woodson Honda, has earned the Association of Finance and Insurance Professionals' certified finance and insurance professional designation. Bowles has worked in the automotive industry for 10 years.
LEE EDDY, a member of the Fifth Planning District Commission and the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors, recently was awarded the Dixon Award at the annual conference of the Virginia Association of Planning District Commissions for his leadership and outstanding contributions in promoting the concept of regionalism in Virginia.
C. NOELL PARCELL has been named Agent of the Year by Virginia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Co. for 1995.
SHERRY BADII of Roanoke has completed a course in colored stones (gems other than diamonds) with the Santa Monica, Calif.-based Gemological Institute of America, and has been awarded the institute's colored stones certificate.
ROBERT W. KIDD, an agent in the Roanoke district office of American General Life and Accident Insurance Co., has reached his 10th anniversary; and ERIC V. MARINER SR., district sales manager, and BARBARA W. BURTON, support staff member, have marked their fifth anniversaries with the company, a subsidiary of American General Corp. based in Houston, Texas.
GERALD D. HUDGINS, formerly of Roanoke, has been honored by Honeywell Inc., as a recipient of its Golden Eagle award. Hudgins is principal service specialist of field operations for Honeywell at Container Corp. of America in Fernandina Beach, Fla.
LEE PARSONS of Troutville recently was awarded a certificate of membership to the President's Council of the National Association of Health Underwriters' "Leading Producers Round Table" at the national convention in Atlanta. He was recognized for his achievement in sales of long-term care insurance, for which he is a broker and consultant in Roanoke. Parsons also was appointed senior issues chairman for the East Coast Region of the association.
DANIEL RICHARDS, a driver for Howell's Motor Freight Inc. in Roanoke, placed 10th nationwide in the Company Equipment Driver of the Year contest sponsored by the Interstate Truckload Carriers Conference and OverDrive Media Group. Winners were chosen based on safety record, past awards and recognitions, number of years as a company driver and a statement of support from contestants' chief executive officers. The conference is affiliated with the American Trucking Associations Inc.
