Aerobics workshop
ABINGDON - A one-day national aerobic certification workshop will be offered at the Harry L. Coomes Recreation Center Sept. 21, followed by two continuing-education workshops Sept. 22.
The workshop, sponsored by the center and National Dance Exercise Instructor's Training Association, will introduce participants to basic academic and practical applications of teaching group exercise. The certification exam will be held at the end of the day. The workshops will cover the latest industry trends approved by the association and American Council on Exercise for continuing education credits.

Theater seminar
ABINGDON - Barter Theatre will offer a seminar on introduction to theater from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 31. The cost is $75.
No acting is necessary. The class is designed to enhance the theater-going experience by providing a deeper understanding of theater history, professional acting and production in regional theater today. It is the first of a series of Saturday seminars being planned for adults.
