A Chesterfield County man was arrested Friday in connection with the killing of a 3-year-old girl he apparently was baby-sitting.
LeAnthony Walton Bishop, 26, was charged with murder in the death of Laraya Lynn Cox. Police were called to Bishop's home about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. When rescue workers arrived, they found Laraya in cardiac arrest.
The child was taken to Columbia Chippenham Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. An investigation revealed that Laraya died of injuries from a blow, police said. Authorities Friday night did not know how Bishop was related to the girl.
Bishop was being held in Chesterfield Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond. A hearing is scheduled for Monday in Chesterfield Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.
