FLOYD MAN KILLED IN CAR WRECK

A 58-year-old Floyd man was killed Friday in a single-vehicle accident in Montgomery County.

David Underwood was headed toward Christiansburg on Virginia 8 about 6 p.m. when his car ran off the left side of the road and hit a tree, state police said.

Trooper Jeff Hyre said the weather was clear and the road was dry, and there was no indication Underwood swerved to miss something.

He might have been asleep or fallen ill, Hyre said. An autopsy will be performed.
