          practice laps Thursday in preparation for her 500-mile fund-raising 
          ride for Habitat for Humanity. Duerk rode past some recent additions
          to the almost 60 Roanoke Valley Habitat homes. She is pictured with 
          Anthony and Darlene Hale, owners of Roanoke's 50th Habitat house, 
          which they have landscaped with great enthusiasm. Duerk is taking 
          pledges for her ride from Lynchburg to Atlanta, scheduled to begin 
          today and end Aug. 30. She and a group of riders then will celebrate
          the 20th anniversary of Habitat for Humanity International, based in
