KILLING SUSPECT BUSTED FOR POT TENN. ARREST IMPERILS BOND AGREEMENT

A Roanoke man has been charged with possessing six pounds of marijuana in Tennessee while he was free on bond awaiting trial on a murder charge.

Eric T. Waller, who is charged with killing his sister's boyfriend May 12 on Grayson Avenue Northwest, was arrested Aug. 16 in Greenville, Tenn., according to court records. He was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and unlawful possession of a firearm.

In a motion filed in Roanoke Circuit Court, Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Wanda DeWease is asking a judge to revoke Waller's $22,100 bond on charges of murder and use of a firearm.

The motion alleges that Waller has violated two conditions of his bond: to exhibit good behavior, and not to leave the state of Virginia.

Waller, 25, is scheduled to be tried in November for the shooting death of 20-year-old Marvin Williams of Roanoke. The shooting apparently stemmed from a stormy relationship between Williams and Waller's sister, who shared a home on the 1400 block of Grayson Avenue.

At a preliminary hearing in June, a witness testified that Waller came to Williams' home, asked why Williams was always fighting with his sister, then opened fire. Williams, who was struck 13 times in the face, chest, abdomen, back and left arm, died a short time later at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Waller, who is being held in Tennessee, is scheduled to appear in Roanoke Circuit Court on Tuesday for a bond revocation hearing.
