ROANOKE REGIONAL ECONOMIC INDICATORS

Travel on the Blue Ridge Parkway declined in July in the Roanoke district and state. The number of vehicles entering the parkway in the Roanoke area dropped 24 percent, from 128,289 a year ago to 97,837 last month. In Virginia, travel fell 5.7 percent, to 808,661. The parkway as a whole reported a 1 percent increase because of a 4 percent jump in North Carolina.
