A 28-year-old man was shot during an argument with his wife Monday morning in Northwest Roanoke.

Michael Gravely was recovering at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital on Monday afternoon. The injuries to his arm and chest were not life-threatening, police said.

Gravely called police to his home at 2816 Cove Road N.W. about 9:41 a.m. He had been shot with a large-caliber handgun.

His wife, Crystal G. Gravely, 21, was charged with malicious wounding. She remained in Roanoke City Jail on $5,000 bond.

In other incidents over the weekend and last week:

About 8 p.m., the girl was playing outside her home in the 4000 block of Bradshaw Road when a man stopped his car and grabbed her. Police said the girl told them she screamed. The man let her go when the girl's aunt called her to come in for the night.

* Charges are pending against a 16-year-old boy who is accused of kicking in the door of his former girlfriend's motel room.

Roanoke County police said they were called to the Crossroad Inn at 6520 Thirlane Road about 3 a.m. Sunday by a 17-year-old girl. They said the girl told them the boy had forced his way into her room and grabbed her around the throat. She was not seriously injured.
