The Student Health Fee covers unlimited visits to the health center, routine laboratory work, limited over-the-counter prescriptions and basic first-aid supplies for minor illnesses and injuries. Patients who have made appointments will be seen first, although students may walk-in and wait for the next available physician. A flu shot clinic is available for students, faculty and staff in the fall.

The fee does not cover services or prescriptions filled at other pharmacies, X-rays and additional laboratory tests. Physicians will give certain immunizations, lab tests, evaluations and referrals to other resources on campus and in the community. There is no emergency care for serious or life-threatening illness or injury. The health service accepts cash, checks RU express cards and MC/VISA for payment.

24-HOUR NURSE SERVICE

Access to a registered nurse 24 hours a day, seven days a week by telephone. It gives students the chance to ask questions after hours.

ALLERGY CLINIC

Students can receive allergy shots, instructions and a schedule for a $2 per injection fee.

**All students must provide a complete health history documenting all required immunizations. **

ANONYMOUS HIV TESTING

Radford will offer confidential and anonymous HIV testing twice a month beginning late September. Call for times and dates.

CONTACT EXPRESS

An optician will be available two to three times a week at the health center to provide free eye exams and prescribe contacts and eyeglasses. There will be a variety of frames and contacts to choose from at low prices. Call to make appointments or to place an order for contacts or frames.

Provides individual help on a variety of health/wellness topics such as alcohol, drugs, sexuality, fitness, nutrition and stress management.

A diverse group of students trained by the Health Center to work with the center to help counsel peers on a variety of health-related topics.

All services provided by appointment.

A full-time certified OB/GYN nurse practitioner provides routine annual GYN/pelvic exam, birth control options, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment for women and men, pregnancy testing, colposcopy and cryotherapy. Except for the exam and a free sample and prescription for oral contraceptives, there are fees for all other tests and treatments.

Students are asked to arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled appointments to fill out paperwork.
