ABSENTEE VOTING IS NOT AS HARD AS PEOPLE SAY

Throughout the years, the term "absentee voting" has somehow become associated with the words difficult, tedious and problematic. But the truth is, it's not.

For those who wish to vote in the Nov. 5 presidential election, the process is easy, but you must meet the deadlines. Students from anywhere in the nation who are registered back home can vote from Virginia, as long as they complete the absentee ballot application. New voters can register for their state's election, as long as they know their home address.

Deadlines:

Oct. 7: Registration for first-time voters and address changes

Oct. 31: Mailed absentee voting ballots

Nov. 2: In-person absentee voting ballots (at local registrar's office)
