TECH TO HOLD MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR SLAIN PROFESSOR

Virginia Tech will hold a memorial service next week for Chen Liang, a former faculty member in the Center for Intelligent Materials, who was one of three San Diego State professors shot to death Aug. 15 during a critique of a graduate students's thesis.

The service will be held at noon Tuesday at the university's Memorial Chapel.

Liang received a Ph.D. in 1990 from Virginia Tech's mechanical engineering department.
