Officials are investigating Caroline County's landfill because its neighbors say it smells like rotten eggs and is making them sick.
State and county officials said several families have complained of headaches, sore throats and breathing problems. Four wells in the area are also being tested because of complaints that their water tastes funny.
Instruments that take air samples have been set on the landfill south of Bowling Green. State officials said it could be several weeks before the results are known.
