A 16-year-old Roanoke girl was raped early Sunday on Westside Boulevard.
Police gave this account:
The girl and a female friend were at a motel on Williamson Road with an unidentified man around 2 a.m. The girl's friend left the motel and the girl accepted a ride home from the man.
She became alarmed when the man took too long to drive to her Northwest home. The man pulled into Westside Elementary school's parking lot to talk. He became upset and punched the girl in the face.
The girl was able to get out of the car, but the man caught her and dragged her behind the school and raped her.
The girl was released and she walked home. The police were contacted. She was taken to Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital for examination and treatment.
Police do not believe she had injuries that would require her to be admitted to the hospital.
No arrest has been made. Police will continue to investigate the incident.
