The family of Harry S. DeHaven, the popular operations director for the Pulaski County school system who died Aug. 22, has established a scholarship in his memory.
The Harry DeHaven Memorial Scholarship will join other scholarships offering financial aid to graduating seniors at Pulaski County High School who want to continue their education.
Contributions should be sent to Cindy Watson, Pulaski County High School, 5414 Cougar Trail, Dublin, Va. 24084. Checks should be made out to "Pulaski County High School."
DeHaven, 47, had been operations director for five years and had been with the school system for 26 years. He had also been a teacher and coach. He served as a liaison for the school system when the county recreation program was organized, and on the New River Valley Juvenile Detention Home Board for about 12 years.
