Roanoker Keith Turner has won three gold medals in the first three days of the World In-line Speed Skating Championships in Scaltenigo, Italy.
Turner took the gold in the 300 meters with a time of 26.5 seconds, and he also won the 500 meters, for which no time was available. In the 500 meters, he beat teammate and overall world champion Chad Hedrick of Spring, Texas.
With Turner, Hedrick and Derek Parra of Dover, Del., the United States has won gold in every men's event contested so far. All have come during the track portion of the World Championships. Hedrick has two golds and two silvers, while Parra has one gold and one silver.
The 20,000-meter elimination race and the relay have not yet been completed. The road portion of the championships will be contested later this week.
The United States is having similar success on the women's side, having won three of six gold medals and taking half of the overall medal count.

*Rain forced the postponement of Roanoke College's field hockey game scheduled for Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The game between the Maroons and Mary Washington has been rescheduled for 4:30 p.m. Thursday on Alumni Field at the college.
