Melissa ``Bud'' Lucas got a key rebound of her own missed free throw and made one foul shot with seven seconds left Wednesday to seal a 40-37 comeback victory for Narrows over Auburn in Riner.
The Green Wave (2-1) trailed 24-11 at halftime, but held Auburn (2-3) to just 13 second-half points. Leading 39-37, Narrows caught a break when Lucas, the only Wave player in the lane, rebounded her free throw. She made one of two.
Narrows went to the free throw line 27 times, making just nine, but it was enough to beat the Eagles, who were 2-for-4 at the stripe.
Suzanne Webb scored 11 for the Green Wave. Laura Underwood led Auburn with 10.
Alleghany 56, Parry McCluer 38: At Buena Vista, Natasha Chapman and Katie Craft combined for 36 points to lead the Mountaineers to a non-district victory over the Fighting Blues.
Alleghany (1-0) won the second quarter 17-9 to seize control. Chapman had 22 points and Craft added 14 for the winners.
Buena Vista (1-2) got a game-high 24 points from Lindsey Coleman.
Rocky Gap 52, Graham 39: Tessa Andrews had 19 points and 11 rebounds and Michelle Sarver chipped in 13 as the Eagles (3-1) beat the G-Girls in a non-district game.
Rocky Gap pulled away by holding Graham (1-3) to just two field goals in the fourth quarter and outscoring the G-Girls 16-6. Lena Presley scored 17 for Graham.
