MARINE PVT. CHAD A. HOWES, son of David and Janet Howes of Eagle Rock, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Howes is a 1995 graduate of James River High School.

NAVY PETTY OFFICER 1ST CLASS STEPHEN M. DEVAUX, son of Moody and Patricia DeVaux of Roanoke, recently completed the Enlisted Navy Recruiter Orientation course and will be assigned as a recruiter.

DeVaux is a 1980 graduate of Cave Spring High School.

NAVY PETTY OFFICER 2ND CLASS ANTHONY S. WRIGHT, son of Michael Wright of Roanoke, recently completed a six-month deployment aboard the destroyer USS Arthur W. Radford. Wright's ship patrolled the Adriatic and Mediterranean seas to help enforce the international embargo against the former Yugoslavia.

Wright, a 1988 graduate of William Byrd High School, is currently stationed in Norfolk.
