MOURLAM TO COACH TECH WRESTLERS IN THE REGION MOURLAM SELECTED BY HOKIES

Keith Mourlam, a member of two NCAA championship teams at the University of Iowa, has been appointed head wrestling coach at Virginia Tech.

Mourlam succeeds Jerry Cheynet, who he assisted last season. Cheynet, formerly Tech's wrestling and men's soccer coach, now will work exclusively with soccer. Mourlam's assistant will be Daniel Wirnsberger, a Michigan State graduate.

Mourlam previously coached at Newport News Apprentice School and the Peninsula Wrestling Association.

In other sports news in the region:

*Roanoke College's season-opening field hockey game Thursday against Mary Washington was postponed for the second time to due poor conditions at Alumni Field. No makeup date has been set.
