Joan Kroc, widow of McDonald's founder Ray Kroc, donated $2 million to the Betty Ford Center to expand a children's substance-abuse program.

It is the largest single gift to the nonprofit center, which has treated many luminaries, Elizabeth Taylor and Don Johnson among them.

``Mrs. Kroc believes, as do we, that too many children in this country and around the world are suffering from living with the effects of addiction,'' said Ken Barun, president and chief executive of Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Clint Eastwood, 66, and Dina Ruiz, 30, wed March 31, expect their first child in early 1997. ``It's a honeymoon baby,'' she said. ``We always planned to have one. I just didn't know it would be nine months after we got married.'' She added that she'll continue anchoring TV news for a Salinas, Calif., station while expecting and afterward. ``Clint's going to be the baby sitter,'' she noted. ``His wife will be working five days a week.''
