UNITED WAY NAMES TEAM FOR '96 DRIVE

The United Way of Montgomery, Radford and Floyd has kicked off its annual campaign by announcing a fund-raising goal of $900,000 to support 36 community agencies.

Dan Specht, a financial adviser with Wheat First Butcher Singer, will be the local chairman for 1996. Other campaign leaders include:

Bob Brannigan, Montgomery Regional Hospital: health and medical division; Ernie Bentley, Old Town Printing and Copying: Christiansburg business division; Dale Clark, First National Bank: finance division; Jim Cole, Virginia Tech Foundation, Inc.: Shawsville business division.

Tonya Cooley, Radford Chiropractic Clinic: Radford business division; Woody Crenshaw, Crenshaw Lighting: Floyd business and commercial division; Karen Cronin, Virginia Tech and Ron Downs, Radford University: Combined Virginia Campaign.

Darryl Gillespie, Lester and Gillespie: Christiansburg commercial division; George and Ann Gardner Gray, both retired: retiree division; Carol Herdman, Lazarus: NRV Mall division; Russell Holladay and Larry Schoff, Montgomery County Schools: education division.

Jay Johnson, First American Bank: Wings of Leadership Society; Carlin Maberry, Maberry Funeral Home: Floyd residential and retiree division; Dennis Mabes, Kollmorgen: Radford industry division; Carl Matney, The Prudential: Blacksburg business division;

Bill Neely, Force, Inc.: Christiansburg and Floyd industry division; Dr. Aaron Prussin, NRV Ear, Nose and Throat Associates: professional division; Mary Ann Semones, Carilion Radford Community Hospital: health and medical division.

Clyde Smythers, First American Bank: Blacksburg commercial; Elaine Specht, Waste Policy Institute: Corporate Research Park division; Lt. Gary Teaster, town of Blacksburg: government division; Jeff Tickle, The National Bank: Market Place division; Davis Walker, Litton Poly-Scientific: Blacksburg industry division.

Other volunteers serving on the campaign team in nonreporting division roles are:

Deborah Brown, Radford University: Public Relations Advisory Committee; Tim Hodge, Virginia Tech: kick-off preparations; Lance Huff, Virginia Tech: Day of Caring co-chairman; Butch Irvine, Central Fidelity Bank: Loaned Employee Program; Nicole LaMarr, Lotus Biochemical Corporation: Radford area adviser; Al Thompson, Thompson Tree Farm: Floyd area adviser.

Money raised during the September through November campaign to "Paint A Brighter Tomorrow" will stay in Montgomery County, Radford and Floyd County, unless otherwise designated by donors. Following the campaign more than 60 community volunteers will decide how the funds will be distributed among the 36 partner agencies.
