DUDLEY FCS VICTOR

Roanoke's Mike Dudley took advantage of a black flag penalty to Kenny Hodges to score a Late Model Stock victory Saturday at Franklin County Speedway.

Leon Dalton led the race's first 26 laps before Hodges tagged him in the left rear quarterpanel and spun him out of contention. Hodges (Rocky Mount) was assessed a black flag penalty and sent to the rear of the field, giving Dudley the lead.

Hodges worked his way through a series of crashes and caution flags to finish second. Donnie Lacks (Lynchburg), Bobby Griffin (Eden, N.C.) and Bobby Glispie (Floyd) rounded out the top five finishers.

In the Mini Stock division, Gary Joyce captured the checkered flag and the points lead despite driving with a broken right foot. Joyce edged out Chris Martin for the victory. James Cox placed third, with Bobby Hurt and Carlton Clark coming in fourth and fifth.

Mike Looney scored his first career victory in the Pure Stock class, outrunning division points leader Jay Perry. Kevin Ransom was third, Red Hartman fourth and Junior Lester fifth.

Steve Cannaday took the checkered flag in the Rookie division. Mike Lawhorn picked up the victory in the AnyCar race and Randy Kingery led the field across the finish line in the Classic Modifieds race.
