ROANOKE REGIONAL ECONOMIC INDICATORS

The number of homes sold in the Roanoke Valley dropped 8.7 percent in August compared with a year ago. The figure of 335 sales was up 1.5 percent from 330 the prior month.

The valley had a housing inventory of 2,109 homes for sale at the end of August, including 520 added during the month, according to the Multiple Listing Service. On average, buyers paid 2.4 percent less than the listed price, and properties spent an average of 81 days on the market.

The most expensive house listed for $445,000 and sold for $415,000 after 57 days on the market. The least expensive house listed for $14,900 and sold for $12,000 after 356 days on the market.
