Sermons from Science

BLACKSBURG - Sermons from Science, a program that's appeared at the Olympic Games and the World's Fair, will be at Squires Student Center's Haymarket Theatre at Virginia Tech daily through Thursday at 6:30 p.m.. Dean Ortner, who is affiliated with the Moody Institute of Science, will present the program which consists of a series of science demonstrations.

Each evening a different program will be presented. Demonstrations include music played on a beam of light, voice modulated on a laser beam and one million volts of electricity passing harmlessly through the human body.

Library card drawing

CHRISTIANSBURG - Sign up for a new library card and win a $50 savings bond. The Christiansburg Library is celebrating Library Card Sign-Up month. All new patrons who register for a new library card in September can enter for the drawing of the savings bond. The savings bond is donated by First National Bank of Christiansburg. Basketball celebration

CHRISTIANSBURG - WKEX, AM-1430, will honor Blacksburg High School's girls basketball team Saturday with a three-hour broadcast from the New River Valley Mall.

Shoppers will get the chance to challenge players at a basketball goal in the mall's food court. Prizes will be awarded to successful challengers.
