INSTRUMENTS MISSING AFTER CHURCH BURGLARY

Authorities are looking into a break-in at the Newbern Church of God where musical equipment valued at nearly $10,000 was taken.

Investigator Brian G. Wade said members of the Pulaski County church reported the theft on Sept. 4. Among the items taken were several guitars - two of which were valued at more than $2,300; a keyboard synthesizer and an amplifier.

The loss is estimated at $9,900, according to a police report.

Wade said he believed the equipment was taken between 9:30 p.m. Sept. 3 and 1 p.m. Sept. 4.

Investigators found two of the guitars in a field near the church, but no charges have been filed.

In what may be a related incident, Wade said several purses were ransacked Sunday while congregation members attended a picnic. Three people reported missing money for a total of $95.
