Sophomore midfielder Ben Olsen had two goals and two assists as Virginia overpowered VMI 7-0 on Wednesday night in a men's soccer game in Charlottesville.
Mike Slivinski also had two goals for the Cavaliers, who outshot the Keydets 28-2. Brock Yetso made one save to pick up the shutout for UVa (3-0-1).
Tom Butler stopped nine shots for VMI (3-2-0).
In other sports news in the region:
* Meridith Thorpe and Meredith Elwell scored two goals each to lead Virginia to an 8-1 victory over Radford in a field hockey game in Charlottesville, giving the Cavaliers a 3-0 start. Elizabeth Michinard scored the lone goal for the Highlanders (0-1).
* Rain wiped out Wednesday's scheduled Roanoke College men's soccer game against Mary Washington in Salem. No makeup date was set.
