Talk on Max Weber
David Little, a senior U.S. Scholar at the United States Institute of Peace, will speak on ``The Continuing Significance of Max Weber'' on Friday at 4 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall at Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg.
Little will speak on Weber's approach to society and religion.
The lecture is free and open to the public.

Fair, tobacco festival
ABINGDON - The 47th annual Washington County Fair and Burley Tobacco Festival is under way.
Comedian Jerry Clower will perform along with parade marshal John Bressler on Saturday. The parade will be at 10 a.m. and the performances at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Other entertainers during will include Jeff Carson tonight and Holly Dunn on Friday night, all at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Other activities include a truck and tractor pull at 6 p.m. Friday and Cole Shows and rides on a midway at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Further information is available by calling Sammy Campbell at 628-2131.
Rescue fund drive
The Craig County-New Castle Volunteer Fire Department, in cooperation with Community Support Services, will be requesting pledges for its fund-raising drive.
Families who pledge will receive a 10-by-13 family portrait.
Proceeds will go toward a new pumper truck.
