MONTGOMERY REPUBLICANS TO HOLD OPENING, PICNIC

The Montgomery County branch of the Grand Old Party is celebrating the grand opening of an office Saturday.

The bash at the local Republican Party office, 49 W. Main St. in Blacksburg, is set for 10 a.m.

At 4 p.m. Saturday, Montgomery County and Radford Republicans will hold a barbecue and campaign rally at Bisset Park in Radford.

"I hope that everyone who supports Bob Dole and Jack Kemp for president and vice president, John Warner for U.S. Senate and Patrick Muldoon for U.S. Congress will come to Bisset Park for a good-time family gathering and political rally," said David Nutter, Montgomery County chairman.

In addition to dinner, there will be door prizes, music, speakers, pony rides and face painting for children.

The dinner costs $6 for adults and $3 for children ages 5 to 10. Children under 5 are admitted free.
