A special joint Senate and House committee of the Virginia General Assembly will hold three public hearings on Sept. 30 regarding drinking water supply problems in Southwest Virginia.
The committee, led by Del. Clarence Phillips, D-Wise County, was charged by the 1996 General Assembly to study drinking water problems in Southwest Virginia and ways to fund measures to correct them. The committee will also make recommendations on what the General Assembly's role should be in correcting the problems.
The hearings will be held at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of All Faiths at Clinch Valley College in Wise; at 2 p.m. in Buchanan Hall at Southwest Community College in Richlands; and at 7 p.m. in Grayson Hall at Wytheville Community College.
