ALBERT, George Preston, (``Bill""), 63, of Pearisburg, died Friday, September 13, 1996 at his home. He was born December 3, 1932 at White Gate, Va., the son of the late Jesse Preston and Mary Viola Gusler Albe rt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Iris Albert. He is survived by a daughter, Janice (Jan) Dunford, Dublin; two sons, George E. Albert, Missoula, Montana, Gary P. Albert, Pearisburg; two brothers, Donald H. Albert, Narrows, Darl (Jack) Albert, White Gate; two sisters, Margaret A. Baldwin, Dublin, Juanita A. Brandau, Dublin; four grandchildren, Jess Dunford, Dublin, Michael Dunford, Dublin, Gary Albert Jr., Rushville, Indiana, Angel Albert, Dayton, Wyoming. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at the A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate with the Rev. Wayne Monroe officiating. Burial in the Staffordsville Cemetery, Staffordsville. Visiting will be at the funeral home Sunday after 1 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.

ANDREWS , Jerrell Glenwood, 54, of 5238 Thornspring Road, Pulaski, died Friday, September 13, 1996, in Pulaski County. He was born in Pulaski on February 8, 1942, and was the son of Dorothy Roseberry Summers of Lexington, N.C., and the late Hensel Glenwood Andrews. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Dreama Andrews of Pulaski; one daughter, Renee Andrews of Dublin; one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Missy Andrews of Wirtz; one grandchild, Shaunna Andrews of Dublin; four sisters, Patricia Dunivant, Deana King and Ginger Andrews of Pulaski and Katherine Montgomery of Mooresville, N.C., and nine brothers, Gary Andrews, Connie Duncan and Tony Summers of Lexington, N.C., Dana Andrews, Anthony Andrews and Ted Sutherland of Pulaski, Mike Andrews of Parrott, Toby Sutherland of Dublin and Bill Duncan of Statesville, N.C. ARTHUR, Tracy Gwynn, 16, of Huddleston, died Friday, September 13, 1996, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born in Bedford on September 12, 1980, a daughter of David Calvin Arthur Sr. of Thaxton and Nora Jean Crouch Arthur of Bedford. She was a student at Staunton River High School. I n addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, David C. Arthur Jr. of Bedford; her paternal grandfather, James C. Arthur of Bedford; her paternal grandmother, Dorothy N. Moran of Bedford, and her maternal grandparents, Adrian and Margaret Crouch of Montvale. BAUGH, Ellie Elizabeth Alls, 78, of Salem, passed away Saturday, September 14, 1996, at Camelot Hall in Salem. She was the widow of Roy Clinton Baugh. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Marshall C. and Susie Baugh of Roanoke; three daughters and sons-in-law, Christine Poff and husband Norman, and Joyce Snyder of Roanoke, and Sheila Broderick and husband Ronnie of Cary, N.C.; eight grandchildren, and one sister, Sadie Brookman of New Castle. BROWN, Paul Davis, 52, of Evington, passed away Friday, September 13, 1996 at his residence. He was born February 7, 1944 in Bedford County, a son of the late Cole D. Brown and Ethel Cundiff Brown. He was a retired employee of N & W Railroard and was a m ember of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Frances Nichols Brown; a daughter, Sarah Martin, Evington; two sons, Davis W. Brown, Fort Bragg, N.C., Dennie L. HARTLESS, Roger Lee, 51, of Buena Vista, died Friday, September 13, 1996 in Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Born August 10, 1945 in Buena Vista, the son of Dorothy Mae Moore Hartless and the late Henry Palmer Hartless. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the American Legion. He worked at Buena Vista Manufacturing Company. He was preceded in death by his son, Henry Lee Hartless. Surviving with is mother of Buena Vista is his sister, Linda H. Joynes and her husband, Russell; and his brother, Larie G. Hartless Sr. and his wife, Nancy all of Buena Vista; two nephews, Larie G. Hartless Jr. and Russell Shane Joynes and niece, Tammie H. Wilhelm; ex-wife and friend, Glenda C. Hartless of Vesuvius. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, Septemb er 16, 1996 from the graveside at Irish Creek Cemetery with the Rev. KING, Letha Sisk, 88, of Austinville, died Friday, September 13, 1996, in Wythe County Community Hospital. She was born in Carroll County, the daughter of the late John Lark and Sallie Irene Porter Sisk. She was a member of Sheeptown Church of God, and was preceded in death by her husband, William Pierce King. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Annie Mae and Paul Cook, and Joyce and Leon Deal of Austinville; one son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Ronald and Glenna King of Elliston; a sister, Eunice Houston of Martinsville; three brothers, Glen Sisk of Wytheville, Junior Sisk of Baltimore, Md., and Ellis Sisk of Martinsville; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, and special friends, Martha Pickle and Connie Bouknight of Wytheville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, September 16, 1996, at Reese Funeral Chapel in Austinville, with the Rev. Tommy Barney and the Rev. Thurl Alley officiating. KIRBY, Jack C., 73, of Mechanicsville, died Friday, September 13, 1996. Mr. Kirby is survived by his brother, Aubrey M. Kirby Jr. of Swarthmore, Pa.; nephews, Steven Kirby, Douglas Kirby, Kenneth Kirby and Mark Kirby; a niece, Karen Tennant, and cousins, Samuel Brammer, Alta Mae Hopkins, Mary Elizabeth Robertson and Mildred Smith. LINKOUS, Mack Mosby, 72, of Blacksburg, died Friday night, September 13, 1996, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Verna Patrick Linkous; one daughter, Diane Keller, Chester, Va; two granddaughters, Lisa Wade, Kathy Thomason; and three great grandchildren. A cryptside service will be Monday, September 16, 1996 at 11 a.m. in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, conducted by Mr. Porter Riner. LOWE, Agnes Fields, of Narrows, passed away Friday, September 13, 1996, following a long illness. The family would like to announce the celebration of her life. Born Agnes Viola Fields, she was the daughter of the late Ernest William and Noble Dodd Fields. She began her life September 23, 1918, at Beech Grove, Va., and was graduated from Rockfish School in 1935. On October 21, 1939, she was married to the Rev. James D. Lowe Jr. Agnes lived in the Beckley area from 1939 until 1968, when she and her husband moved to Newport, Va. In 1976, they moved to Grafton, W.Va., where they have resided for the past twenty years. Agnes was a wife, homemaker, teacher, mother and servant of God. A member of the Christian Woman's Fellowship, she served as state representative and held the offices of secretary and president of local chapters. She was a past member of the Fellowship Class of the Beckley First Christian Church and worked devotedly with her husband's ministries at the Christian Churches for Crow W.Va.; Mt. Hope, W.Va.; Newport, Va.; Grafton, W.Va.; Core, W.Va., and Narrows Va. She retired from the First National Bank of Grafton in 1983. Agnes was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Elaine; a brother, Samuel Wilson Fields, and a sister, Edith Constance Payne. Her surviving family includes husband, the Rev. James D. Lowe Jr.; two sons and daughters-in-law, James Ethan and Sheri Lowe of Beckley, W.Va., and Steven Ernest and Connie Lowe of Christiansburg; eight grandchildren, James Robert, Steven E. Jr., Thomas Ryan, Terri Annette, Michelle Elaine, Suzanne Yvonne, Amy Elizabeth and Keri Elaine; three great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert Nelson and Arlene Fields, and Paul McCoy and Earlene Fields; one sister and brother-in-law, Stella Temple and Lewis Gray Ferrier, and 23 nieces and nephews. Agnes will be returned to her home church in Beech Grove, Va., for her final resting place. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews. Arrangements are by McDow Funeral Home in Waynesboro, Va. Agnes has celebrated her 78 years with many friends and associates, and the family extends their gratitude to them for sharing in and being a part of her life.

POLLARD, Harry Aloysius, 75, of Salem, died Friday, September 13, 1996. He had been an active owner and manager in funeral service in Salem for nearly 50 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. Harry was also a member and past president of the Virginia Funeral Directors Association, as well as past president of the Blue Ridge Funeral Directors Association. In 1993, he received the Outstanding Citizen Award from the Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce. Harry also participated as a member of the Taylor Lodge #23 A.F.&A.M. He also served on the Businessmen's Advisory Committee for the Salem Rescue Squad. Harry was a member and past president of Salem Rotary Club, and a Paul Harris Fellow. He is survived by his wife, Jean Tees Pollard; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard (``Rick"") H. and Becky Pollard, and Robert (``Bob"") W. and Denise Pollard; grandchildren, Matthew, Kelly, Drew and Tracy Pollard; sister and brothers-in-law, Claire P. and John LaPenta, John Boyle and Richard Westgate, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, September 16, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Officiating will be Father Gregory R. Kandt, Father James Parke and the Rev. R. Stuart Carlton. Interment will be in East Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. POWELL, W. Jeff, 70, of Roanoke County, died Thursday, September 12, 1996 in a Roanoke hospital. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout with The Bronze Palm and served as Assistant Scout Master in his hometown of Jacksonville, Fla. A World War II and Korean Conflict Veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation radioman and when called back during the Korean Era, he was a supply officer on a Navy ship. A graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, he was a member of Sigma Nu, Drama Tech, ANAK, and listed in Who's Who in America Colleges and Universities. Employed by Pepsico for 31 years, he moved to Roanoke in 1984, retiring in 1989. Mr. Powell was an active member of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church, where he served as a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Administrative Board. Since his retirement, he dedicated his time and talents to many volunteer services including the League of Older Americans and Meals on Wheels, RAM House, Habitat for Humanity, The Art Museum of Western Virginia and the Roanoke Valley History Museum. An avid gardener, he shared the fruits of his labor with his many friends. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Sewell Powell; two sons, William Byron Powell, Jacksonville, Fla., Jefferson Davis Powell II, Houston, Texas; a sister, Mrs. John T. (Nancy) Dobson Jr., Tallahassee, Fla. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 1996 at 12 noon at Greene Memorial United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be sent to Greene Memorial Charity Fund, RAM House, Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, or a charity of one's choice. REYNOLDS, Phyllis Marie Wise, 70, of Salem, went to be with the Lord Friday evening, September 13,1996. She was formerly employed at the Camelot Nursing Home in Salem. Survivors include her husband Elmer R. Reynolds, Salem; son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Barbara Reynolds, Salem; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dennis Reed, Roanoke; Mother, Ruby Wells Wise of Salem; four grandchildren, Amy Marie Reynolds, Emily Suzanne Reynolds, John Matthew Reed and David Aaron Reed. 1 brother Maynard (Buddy) Wise of Salem; a special friend Macel Miller. SCOTT, Donald Eugene, 53, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, September 13, 1996. Surviving are his brother and sister-in-law, John and Sue Scott of Wellsville, Penn.; sisters and brother-in-law, Eileen Goodman of Coalwood, W. Va., Georgia Erwin of Moline, Ill., Louise and Frank Perdue of Boones Mill, Freda Phillips of Salem, Delores Brown of Roanoke; sister-in-law, Donna Scott of Boiling Springs, Penn.; several nieces and nephews.
