Big winners from Pulaski

Pulaski County retirees Dorothy and Warren Collins haven't played the Virginia lottery much in the past year; they've had lots of medical bills and felt they couldn't afford to spend their money on gambling.

But on Sept. 7, Dorothy Collins was in the Shop-Eez on Virginia 100 in Dublin when she decided to buy a Lotto ticket.

The computer picked her number for her: 5-22-26- 27-36-41.

It turned out that number won the $5.8 million jackpot that night. For more details, see Page A1.

Blacksburg firm expands

Olver Inc. of Blacksburg has acquired offices in Charlotte, N.C., and Charleston, S.C., from MSA Consulting Engineers of Minneapolis.

John W. Olver, company chairman, said the acquisition will allow Olver to serve municipal and industrial clients through the Southeast. For full details, see Page B8.
