Olver Inc., a 23-year-old environmental engineering and consulting firm based in Blacksburg, said Monday it has acquired offices in Charlotte, N.C., and Charleston, S.C., from MSA Consulting Engineers of Minneapolis.
The new offices will continue to operate under their present name as a subsidiary of Olver. Headquarters will remain in Blacksburg.
John W. Olver, chairman, said the larger company "will offer an impressive array of services to our municipal and industrial clients located through the entire Southeastern region of the United States and in Puerto Rico."
Olver said the organization has technical expertise in environmental engineering and related technical services. "We now can provide comprehensive, integrated and turnkey solutions for our clients. There will be ever-increasing demand for a company that can provide this level and breadth of service," he said.
Vittorio Bonomo, spokesman for Olver, said the two new offices together have six employees.
Olver has 60 employees in Blacksburg, where it also operates Olver Laboratories, established in 1973 as Virginia's first environmental laboratory facility. The lab serves clients in Virginia, West Virginia, the Carolinas, Tennessee and Maryland.
The company also owns Olver Services Inc., which offers environmental communications and public relations services.
