AGEE, Robert H., 80, of Ferrum, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, September 15, 1996. Mr. Agee was retired from Capital Transit. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Virginia L. Agee of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law, Shir ley and Harry Sisk, Barbara and Aaron Carter, all of Ferrum, Susan and Ray McGhee, Ann and John Wray, all of Rocky Mount; eight grandchildren, Sonia Underwood, Vicki Burkett, Alan Stark, Harry Sisk Jr., Ray McGhee Jr., Shane Wray, Eric Wray, Matthew McGhee; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Elsie Wiseman of Roanoke; and many special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 18, 1996, at Lynch Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bud Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. BRYANT, Deborah Holdren, 39, of Catawba, passed away Friday, September 13, 1996 at her home. Surviving are two sons, Jason Bryant and Joseph Bryant of the home; father, Richard D. Holdren of Elliston; mother and stepfather, Rosemary H. and Butch Overstreet of Roanoke; sister and brother-in-law, Connie H. and Marcus Thompson; nephew and niece, Cory and Carly Thompson all of Christiansburg; grandmother, Mrs. Willie Holdren of Vinton. CARROLL, John M., 80, of Blue Ridge, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, September 15, 1996. He retired from Shepherd's Auto Supply and was a member of Grace Church, where he served as an Elder for many years. He was a veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy (Dot) Trout Carroll; son and daughter-in-law, Rev. John Allen and Mary Carroll, Kingstree, S.C.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy C. and Charles Brenneman, Troutville, Betty C. and Russell Knouff, Blue Ridge; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Edith Windels, Forked River, N.J., Rita Englert, Orange City, Fla. Graveside services will be at the Old Dominion Memorial Gardens in Botetourt Co., 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 18, 1996, with the Rev. Craig Combs officiating. A memorial service will be held at Grace Church, Edgewood St. S.W., Roanoke, 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 18, 1996. COLEMAN, Rachael Jean, (``Jean""), 74 of Annaburg Manor, Manassas formerly of Roanoke passed away Monday, September 16, 1996. Memorial services to be announced.

COLLIER, Altamae West, 87, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, September 15, 1996. She was the widow of Lester E. Collier Sr. and a member of Colonial Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs Collier was a faithful church member and Sunday School Teacher. She was a ``Nurse's Nurse,"" being the first R.N. to score a perfect one hundred on State Boards. Mrs. Collier was a graduate of The Medical College of Virginia and Dix Hill School of Psychiatric Nursing. She was among the first to learn to type and cross-match blood and helped establish Virginia's first blood bank. Mrs. Collier had been a nursing instructor, and retired from Community Hospital. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Jewell Collier, Winston-Salem, N.C.; a daughter and son-in-law, Meg and Glenn English, Roanoke; brother, William D. West, Red Oak, N.C.; four granddaughters, Catherine Cyd Collier, Leslie E. Richards, Cricket E. Price, Stacey C. Almond; three great-granddaughters, Logan and Tanner Price, and Caroline C. Almond. Funeral services will be conducted 12 noon Wednesday, from Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with the Rev. Branan Thompson, the Rev. Laney Mofield, and the Rev. Cyd Collier officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Tuesday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel where the family will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

DALTON, Burton Lewis, 85, of Gretna, died Monday, September 16, 1996. Funeral 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Chapel, Gretna.

DILLOW, Virginia Painter, 77, of Bland, died Monday morning, September 16, 1996 in the Wythe County Community Hospital. She was born in Bland County, the daughter of the late Steward and Alice Burton Painter and was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Dillow, Sr., on June 4, 1996. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Penny and Mack Shannon of Wytheville, Linda O. Miller of Bland; a son, Dr. W. R. Dillow, Jr. of Bland; four grandchildren, Tammy S. Warden, Scot F. Shannon, Leslie Leigh Shannon and James T. Miller; two great-grandchildren, Kenneth E. Warden, III, Courtney J. Miller; and special friends, Princy Doss and Rockie Repass. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 18, 1996 at 2 p.m. in the Newberry Funeral Home in Bland, with the Rev. Joe Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Temple Hill Cemetery in Bland, Va. The family will receive friends at the Newberry Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. DYGVE, Elof Setz, 77, of Cape Coral, Fla., formerly of Roanoke, Va., died Sunday, September 15, 1996 at Cape Coral Hospital. Memorial services will be held Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church, Cape Coral, Fla., where he was a member. Mr. Dygve was an electrical engineer with General Electric for 37 years retiring in 1983. Mr. Dygve was a former member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, where he ha d served as Supt. of Sunday School, Church Treasurer, Deacon, and served on the Board of the Boy Scouts. Survivors include his wife, Jean Dygve of Cape Coral, Fla.; son, Rick (Diane) Dygve of Clifton, Va.; granddaughters, Megan Willett and Emily Dygve; great-grandson, Jeremiah Willett; and a sister, Helen Saum of Westport, Conn. LAFERTY, Billie, 70, of Vinton, passed away Monday morning, September 16, 1996, at his home. Billie served in the United States Army during World War II and was the recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a member of Cave Spring Masonic Lodge #230, the Scottish Rite Bodies, Kazim Temple and Electa Chapter #33 O.E.S. Surviving are his wife, Ruby H. Laferty; his son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Mary Ann Laferty of Roanoke; his daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Paul Gibson of Hardy; his grandsons, Matt Laferty and his wife Michelle of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Josh Laferty, U.S. Navy, Norfolk; his brothers and sister-in-law, John and Ann Lafferty of Vinton, Clyde Lafferty, Glen Lafferty and Darrell Lafferty, all of Gibsonton, Fla., and Ernest Lafferty of Prestonsburg, Ky., and his sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy and Bill Newman, and Lucille and Bill James, all of Prestonsburg, Ky., Ina and Auby Brewer of Gibsonton, Fla. MILLER, Hugh Darrell, 74, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, September 16, 1996. He was born October 12, 1921, in Detroit, Mich., the son of the late Anna Erickson Miller and the late Darrell H. Miller. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan and served during WWII in the U.S. Marines as a Second Lieutenant and a First Lieutenant in the Third Marine Division and as a Captain in the Korean War. He was a member of T.R.O.A. and the M.O.W.W. He was retired from the Norfolk and Western Railway, having received the Distinguished Leadership Award in 1982. He was a member of Cave Spring United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Webber High Twelve #282 A.F. & A.M., Royal Arch Masons and O.E.S. Etta Chapter #185. He is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Ethel Peters Miller, Roanoke; two daughters, Nancy J. Miller and Sandra M. Andrews, Salem; sons-in-law, Tim Miller and Peter F. Andrews; three grandchildren, Erin N. Miller, Andrew S. Miller and Benjamin W. Andrews, all of Salem. He is also survived by his sister, Jeanette Miller, Redford, Mich. and his brother, Duane Miller, Detroit, Mich. Services will be held at Cave Spring United Methodist Church on Wednesday, September 18, 1996 at 2 p.m. The Reverend William Logan will officiate. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Oakey's South Chapel after 1 p.m. Tuesday, where the family will be from 7 to 9 p.m.

PAGE, James Wilton Sr., 75, of Christiansburg, died Sunday morning, September 15, 19 96 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, a veteran of World War II and for over 50 years was a partner in Angles Grocery in Christiansburg. Surviving are one son, James Wilton Page Jr., Christiansburg; a grandson and his wife, James Derek and Jamie Murphy Page; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles Wilbert and Merlene Page, Charles Frank Jr. and Betty Page all of Christiansburg; a sister, Leora Bowman, Hickory, N.C. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday from St. Paul United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Doug Kanney with interment in Sunset Cemetery. SHEPHERD, Joel Taylor, 69, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, September 15, 1996, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joel J. and Etta B. Shepherd; a sister and brother-in-law, Sybil and Walter Jennings; a special son, John Taylor Shepherd. He is survived by his wife, Ila P. Shepherd; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jason P. He was a retired employee of Dupont Co. with 35 years service. He was a member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, Steward Treasurer, Trustee, Class Leader, attended Grace Presbyterian Church, Piedmont Christian Institute, Tuskegee Institute, and was a licensed contractor, Past Master, Trustee, and Treasurer of Sons of Solomon Masonic Lodge No. 111. Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Gardens. WHITT, James Edward, 90, of Radford, passed away Sunday, September 15, 1996, at his home. He was a member of the First Christian Church. He was a retired employee of Burlington Indust ries, having 33 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Pearl Mann Whitt; two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Mildred Whitt of Radford, and Doug and Emma Whitt of Laporte, Colo.; four grandchildren, Steven Whitt, Laurette Beatrice, Melanie Park, and Keith Whitt; four great-grandchildren, Meredith Beatrice, Daniel Beatrice, Matthew Beatrice, and Megan Whitt.
