REV.NET GAINS MOORE'S AT CLIENT

Rev.Net, an Internet services provider in the Roanoke Valley, has begun providing high-speed Internet access for Moore's Lumber and Building Supplies Co.

The access is over a digital telephone line, known as an Integrated Services Digital Network, that operates up to 25 times faster than a 28.8 modem using traditional analog phone lines.

The high-speed access allows Roanoke-based Moore's to obtain business information and to communicate more quickly and inexpensively with the company's suppliers, said Martin Ewing, Moore's vice president of information systems. The company can now more quickly obtain federal housing-starts information that's important to its contractor customers and can more closely track lumber prices, Ewing said.

Doyle Edgerton Jr., president of Kinetic Data Systems, Rev.Net's parent, said Moore's is one of the first companies in the valley to use the ISDN technology.
