DISNEY OFFERS ROANOKE ITS 'PIXIE DUST FORMULA'

Walt Disney World is sending one of its trainers to Roanoke to instruct business, government and organization leaders on use of the "pixie dust formula" of personnel oversight and other Disney management techniques that may help bosses outside the Magic Kingdom.

The half-day class is an overview of the techniques of employee management and customer service used at the Disney company's 47-square-mile Florida resort.

The event is being organized by The Management Association of Western Virginia, which provides services to employers. The association's president, Bruce Wood, called Disney "one of the best management/service organizations in the world" and said the Oct. 1 seminar is "a rare opportunity to learn from the best."

The resort is part of Walt Disney Attractions, a unit of Walt Disney Co. of Burbank, Calif., which earned $2.45 billion on sales of $12.11 billion in its most recent fiscal year, ended Sept. 30, 1995.

"The Disney Keys to Service Excellence" will run from 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Roanoke Airport Marriott. Cost is $225, or $175 for association members, and includes breakfast. Registration deadline is Sept. 27. For details, call 342-7881.
