Dublin Town Council is making further improvements to its industrial park, approving road and painting contracts at its meeting Thursday. Council awarded an $83,136 contract to Simpson Construction of Dublin to extend Dublin Park Road some 1,700 feet to provide access for a 55,000-square-foot ASC Inc. plant under construction. It also approved $10,855 for Cox Roofing, working under Blackstone Paving Inc., to paint the roof of one of the nine 10,000-square-foot warehouse buildings on the former Burlington Industries property.
Blaine Keesee, a landscape architect with Gay Engineering of Christiansburg, outlined ideas for sidewalks, trees and other connections among buildings in the future Dublin Town Center, also on the former Burlington acreage. A new town hall is under construction there, a First National Bank of Christiansburg branch is nearly complete, and a new post office is planned. Keesee also mapped out a plan for an amphitheater for school plays, festivals and similar presentations. The various plans for the Town Center will be on display at the present Town Hall in downtown Dublin. "People can come by and take a look and tell us what they like, and we'll draw you a plan," Keesee told council.
