TODAY'S THE BIG EVENT

More than 40,000 fans are expected to attend today's Virginia Tech home opener against Rutgers at Lane Stadium. Construction on campus and an increase in the number of Hokie Club and season ticket holders have put a crunch on parking. Several roads near and around the stadium are strictly limited to people with permits.

Parking for the general public and students has been pushed farther away from the stadium to several lots near and around the Duck Pond. Hokie Club members have been assigned to one of six designated lots. The map shows how fans attending the game should enter respective parking lots.

Fans will also find more police officers, including ABC agents, patrolling parking lots before the game and in the stands during the game. Officers will be cracking down on illegal drinking at tailgate parties, particularly underage drinking and drunken behavior.
