Arnold anniversary
On July 4th, Robert Winfred Arnold Sr. and Mildred Manspile Arnold celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. A party was given in their honor on July 6th at the Montvale Recreation Club. Lots of family and friends attended the celebration. They have had a full and happy life together. They have two sons, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Robert and Mildred are faithful members of The Blue Ridge Church of the Brethren and God continues to bless this marriage.
Fuller anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. James D. Fuller of Hiwassee, Virginia celebrated their 40th anniversary on September 8th, 1996. The surprise celebration was held at The Farmhouse in Christiansburg. It was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Horton and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Fuller. The couple was married September 8th, 1956 in Lynchburg, VA by the Rev. Randolph Hite.
Mrs. Fuller is the former Hazel Joyce Persinger of Covington, VA. The couple's children are Lynn Horton of Christiansburg and Dean Fuller of Hiwassee. They have 4 grandchildren.
Mr. Fuller a retired employee of Hercules. Mrs. Fuller is retired from AT&T. They belong to Dublin Lions and the squaredance club The New River Squares.
Out of town guests attending the celebration were Mr. and Mrs. Austin Wade of Lynchburg, VA, Mrs. Grace Hughes of Richmond, VA, Mr. and Mrs. George Fuller of Buffalo Junction, VA, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Fuller of Clarksville, VA, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Fuller of Boydton, VA, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fuller and family of Clarksville, VA, and lots of family from Covington and Clifton Forge.
The couple was given a certificate for a two night stay at Mountain Lake in Giles County from family and friends.
Hall anniversary
Brady and Polly Parcell Hall of Rocky Mount celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, September 15. The celebration was held at the Rocky Mount Church of the Brethren Fellowship Hall and hosted by their children, J.D. Hall, Sandra Layman and Margie Gann and their families. Mr. & Mrs. Hall were married September 16, 1946, in Chesterfield, S.C. Mr. Hall is retired from the Lane Company and his wife is retired from J.P. Stevens.
Harless anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lee Harless, of Blacksburg, Va., will celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 24, 1996. The celebration will be highlighted with a dinner for family and friends hosted by their children at the Home Place in Catawba, Va. The couple have five children, Roger Harless of Christiansburg, Va., Gary Harless of Richmond, Va., Bonnie Blount of Blacksburg, Va., Connie Burton of Fairfax, Va., and Peggy de Jesus of Madison, Wis. They have six grandchildren.
Harmon anniversary
Guy B. and Mildred A. Harmon celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 16, 1996, at Stones Cafeteria and hosted by their children, Guy, Jr., Charlotte, Faye, Linda, and son-in-law Clyde McGuire. They were joined by family and friends. Guy and Mildred were married August 16, 1946, in Radford, Va. Guy is a veteran of WW II. Mildred worked at Imperial Reading.
Johnston anniversary
Eddie and Rathma Johnston celebrated their 50th anniversary on Sunday, September 15, 1996. The surprise celebration was held at their son's home. It was hosted by David and Debbie Johnston, the couple's son and daughter-in-law, and was attended by immediate family.
The couple was married September 17, 1946 in Pulaski, VA. They have lived in Blue Ridge, VA, for 23 years, and Roanoke City for 24 years.
She's the former Rathma Frazier. Their children are Ronald Johnston of Lynchburg, VA, David Johnston of Roanoke, VA and Vickie Anderson of Salem, VA. They have 5 grandchildren.
He was self-employed by J & K Garage. She is employed by Sheraton Airport Inn.
Manspile anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. William A. Manspile, Sr. celebrated their 50th anniversary August 24, 1996 by reaffirmation of their wedding vows in a ceremony held at Glad Tiding Assembly of God, with Pastor Troy Webb officiating. The lighting of candles was held to honor and represent each of their children, grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Their son, William A. Manspile, Jr. was his mother's escort. Their daughters, Carole Allman, Sheila Clements, and Belinda West served as bridesmaids. Theresa Keifman was matron of honor. Don Keifman was best man. The ushers were their sons-in-law, Amos Allman and Larry West. Soloist was Lin Cannady. Organist was Doris Selkirk. The guestbook attendant was D ovetta Howard. They have eight grandchildren, Angela Smith, Sheri Prillaman, Lisa Erazo, Todd Clements, Shannon Clements, Jessica West, Monica West, and Danico West; one great-grandchild, Cameron Erazo. Mr. Manspile is a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Mrs. Manspile is retired from Lewis-Gale Hospital. They now own and operate their own business known as Manspile Painting Co. They are active members of Glad Tiding Assembly of God Church. A reception was held at Holiday Inn in Salem following the ceremony which included between 100 to 125 guests. It was hosted by their children.
The Manspile's and their family want to thank everyone who came and helped to make this ``a special day in our lives, one we will never forget''.
We want to thank our God for giving us these 50 years with good health, a lovely family to share together, and lots of wonderful friends.
Misicka anniversary
On September 22, 1946, Arthur Misicka and Celia Mancuso were married at St. Bonaventure's Church in St. Albans, N. Y. Their four children, Lori Misicka of Sacramento, Calif., Tim Misicka of Los Angeles, Calif., Cynthia Misicka of Falls Church, Va., and Lisa Shaffer of Blue Ridge, Va., share the joy of this day, as do their sons and daughter-in-law and grandchildren. To celebrate this happy event, Arthur and Celia will be chauffeured from their Roanoke home by private limousine to the exclusive Greenbrier Resort in W. Va. for an elegant and unforgettable getaway, courtesy of their family.
Arthur is a retired dentist who practiced for over 35 years in Huntington Station, N. Y. Celia is retired from her position as Food Copy Editor for Woman's Day magazine in New York City.
Taylor anniversary
Roy C. Taylor and Helen Taylor celebrated their 50th anniversary September 21, 1996.
The couple have one daughter, one grandson and one great-grandson.
Mr. Taylor is retired from Rowe Furniture. Mrs. Taylor, the former Helen Smith, retired from Crest Uniform Co. They are active members of Penn Forest Church of God.
