ALBERT, Lacy Charlton, 72, of Radford, passed away Saturday, September 21, 1996, at Carilion Radford Community Hospital. He was retired from Lynchburg Foundry in Radford, and was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Belle Brandon Albert. Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Regina Carraway of Dublin; a grandson, Charles C. Russell Jr. of Radford, and a brother, Rudy Albert of California. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 24, 1996, at 1 p.m., at Westview Cemetery in Radford, with the Rev. ALTICE, Ricky Von, 41, of Rocky Mount, departed this life on Sunday, September 22, 1996. He was a member of Rocky Mount First Church of the Brethren and was employed by Rocky Top Wood Preservers. Ricky was preceded in death by his sist er, Sandra Ann Altice. Surviving are his beloved wife, Patty Scott Altice; three children who were always loving and caring, Nicholas Von ``Nick"" Altice, Benjamin Neal ``Ben"" Altice and Lindsay Ann Altice all of the home; his loving parents, Henry and Christine Altice of Rocky Mount; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Kermit and Margaret Scott of Callaway; special aunts and uncles, including Letha H. BARTON, Clara Duncan, 71, of Christiansburg, died Saturday, September 21, 1996 at her home. Surviving are one daughter, Melanie Roberts, Enterprise, Ala.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold H. and Faye Duncan, Richmond, E.B. and Margaret Duncan, Christiansburg; two great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; special friends, Marie Duncan, Ardella Duncan and Janet Hodge and her family. BOOZE, Leonard William, of Roanoke, was called by the Lord on Saturday, September 21, 1996, from this Earth after a lengthy illness. He was a member of Glade Baptist Church in Blacksburg. Throughout years of church work, he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was retired from the City of Roanoke, where he had worked 32 years. His service in our country's Marine Corps took him to Japan during 1953. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Nan Young Booze, who died in 1929, and his father, William Lorraine Booze, who died in 1966. He is survived by his wife, Lutie Margaret (``Peggy"") Booze; a daughter, Nicole Diana Booze; a son, Patrick T. Booze; brothers and sisters, Phillip Booze, Betty King, Sharlotte Sink, Donald Booze, John Booze, James Booze, Barry Booze, Billy Booze, Paul Booze and Judy Wilhelm. Survivors also include many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 1996, at Oakey's North Chapel, with the Rev. Kelly Sisson and the Rev. BRIZENDINE, Ronald Lynn, 38, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, September 22, 1996. He was preceded in death by his father, Ira J. Brizendine. He was an employee of K & W Cafeteria. He is survived by his mother, Virginia Brizendine; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Timothy Nagel; nephew, Eric Nagel; and numerous other relatives. BUSIC, James Lonnie, of Galax, passed away Friday, September 20, 1996. He was born in Cloverland, Wash., on May 25, 1909. At an early age, his family moved bask East and settled at Piney Creek, N.C., where he grew up and graduated from Piney Creek High School with honors. He graduated from National Business College in Roanoke in 1931, and was employed as office manager and Secretary-Treasurer of Galax Furniture Company Inc. In 1935, he was employed by Pless Electric and Furniture Company Inc. as office manager, and the following year was selected Secretary-Treasurer. He served in this position throughout the growth and expansion of Pless Furniture Stores for 35 years until the stores were sold to Heilig-Meyers Company in 1971. He is survived by his wife, Jane Bennett Busic; and by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Anne and Russ ell Meador of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Charles E. Bennett Sr. of Roanoke; stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Bryce L. and Bobbie Bennett of El Paso, Texas; sisters, Nannie Busic of Asheboro, N.C., and Edna Midduagh and Edith Richardson of Sparta, N.C.; a brother, Rodney Busic of Sparta, N.C.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Willie Reeves Busic; four brothers, Clinton, Carl, Glenn and Willie, and one sister, Imogene Busic. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Galax, and served as deacon and a member of the board of trustees. He taught adult Sunday school class for approximately 35 years. He was a member of Old Town Masonic Lodge #68 of Galax, a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of Kazim Temple Shrine in Roanoke and a permanent contributor to the Shriners' Crippled Childrens' Hospital. He was a member of Galax Rotary Club for more than 50 years, and served as assistant secretary for several years. He was a Paul Harris Fellow, Rotary International, along with his wife, Jane Busic. In 1987, he was honored by National Business College of Roanoke by being named to the Hall of Achievement, their highest honor, ``FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO YOUR PROFESSION AND YOUR COMMUNITY."" He was active in community affairs such as the United Way, the Chamber of Commerce and other community activities. The funeral will be held at First Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 1996. Officiating ministers will be the Rev. John Duvall and the Rev. Bob Jackson. Interment will be in Felts Memorial Cemetery. Masonic rites will be performed at the gravesite by Old Town Lodge #68. LAYNE, Kenneth F., 89, of 320 Sumpter Street, Lynchburg, died Sunday, September 22, 1996. Born in Lynchburg, he was the husband of the late Mary Elizabeth Malone Layne, and the son of the late Charles Faris Layne and Annie Feagans Layne. Mr. Layne was a retired salesman for Callaham Wholesale Grocery and Produce, a member of Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and on the Tellers Committee, and a veteran of World War II. Preceding his death was a sister, Thelma Layne Ligon. Survivors include a sister, Doris L. Rosenberger of Roanoke; three nephews, Howard C. Ligon, Paul White and John Malone, and three nieces, Pat White, Marian Butler and Martha Alexander. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church, with the Rev. MAYS, Dick Porter, 65, of Botetourt County, passed away Saturday, September 21, 1996. Dick served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant, and was a member of Lakeland Masonic Lodge #190, the Roanoke Scottish Rite Bodies, Kazim Temple and the Telephone Pioneers Club. He was retired from C&P Telephone Company with 30 years of service, and was preceded in death by his father, John S. (``Pappy"") Mays, and his wife, Virginia Terry Mays. Surviving are his sons and daughter-in-law, David K. and Barbara T. Mays, and Kevin B. Mays, all of Bedford County; his daughter, Kelly R. Mays of Roanoke; his grandchildren, Ashley M. Mays and Jonathan B. Mays; his mother, Mary (``Fuzzy"") Mays of Roanoke; his brother and sister-in-law, Roger C. and Dorothy F. Mays of Roanoke; his sister, Betty Mays Kelly of Roanoke, and several nieces and nephews. MYERS, Margaret Gunter, 83, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, September 21, 1996. She was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a retired nurse from RMH and the LPN Nurses Associaton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Seattle Myers; parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Gunter; three brothers; and one sister. She is survived by two nieces, Alona Shelton, Roanoke, Seattle Caldwell and husband, Tommy, Stewartsville; two great-nieces, Pixie Craft and husband, Lee and Hope Seal and husband, Mike; two great-great-nieces, Ashlee Craft and Laken Seal; two great-great-nephews, Andy Craft and Michael Seal; a very special friend and companion, Nina London; a host of cousins and friends and a speical caregiver, Linda Divers. PARKER, Mildred Clark, 75, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, September 21, 1996, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was a daughter of the late Jesse and Minnie Clark. Mrs. Parker was a member of Melrose Baptist Church, where she worked in the Sunday School Department for many years. She was a loving mother and a devoted wife who will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Barker, and three brothers, Manuel Clark, Marvin Clark and Claude Clark. She is survived by her husband, Paul Parker; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul E. SHEPPARD, Gilbert Walter, 78, of Route 1, Box 267-A, Pulaski, died Saturday evening, September 21, 1996, in Pulaski Community Hospital. Born on December 2, 1917, in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late William Par rish Sheppard and Ida Havens Sheppard. Mr. Sheppard was preceded in death by a wife, Katherine Jones Sheppard, and a grandson, William Stephen Sheppard. He is survived by his wife, Mary Bandy Sheppard; one son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. and Mrs. Dennis Sheppard of Max Meadows; one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Jolyn) Linkous of Clayton, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. Henry (Willie) Jeter of Vinton; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. SPENCER, Troy Edward, 64, of Rocky Mount, died Friday, September 20, 1996. Born August 3, 1932 the son of the late Sam D. and Gillie Ann Stump Spencer. He was employed by PYA Monarch Company in Salem for over 36 years. Preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law, Willie and Ruby Underwood; twin brother, Roy Spencer; brother, Elmer Spencer; half brother, Roy Stump; father-in-law, Robert Chitwood; grandson, Brad Myers; nephew, C.W. Bousman; brother-in-law, Bill Brown. STEIDLEY, Dorothy Jane, 92, of Asbury Center at Birdmont, Wytheville, died Thursday, September 19, 1996 in the Wythe County Community Hospital. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of the late Herbert J. and Bertha Lamoreaux Steidley and was retired from the Sun Oil Company. She i s survived by a sister, Louise Sharitz of Birdmont; one niece, Bonnie Cook of Charlotte, N.C.; two nephews and their wives, Thomas C. and Nina Steidley, Maitland, Fla., Richard A. and Hilde Steidley of Winter Park, Fla.; seven great-nieces, Heather and Amy Cook, Sharon Carter, Terri Ross and Thomas C. Steidley III, Kathleen Hasbrouck and Ronald Steidley. WRIGHT, Louis Page, 86, of Roanoke, died Sunday, September 22, 1996. Mr. Wright served in the United States Navy during World War II, and served in the National Guard as a sergeant in Cumberland, Md. He was a graduate of Kirksville University and received his Master's Degree in Education from the University of Delaware. He was a retired professor from the University of Maryland, European Campus (Germany and Turkey), and had been a supervisor for the Cecil County School Board in Maryland and a director of Cecil County Vocational Technical Center. Louis was preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Kline, and is survived by his wife of 64 years, Edriess Bennett Wright; his son and daughter-in-law, Louis B. and Carolyn Wright of Bedford County; his daughters and sons-in-law, Edriess Judith and Bruce F. Spencer of Lake Bluff, Ill., Joyce Marie and William A. Humbert of Bel Air, Md., and Cecil Jo and Dr. David G. Whitten of Rochester, N.Y. and Albuquerque, N.M.; his grandchildren, Corinne, Charles, Jenifer, Guy, Dana and Louis; his great-grandchildren, Hillary, Will and Patrick, and his sisters, Nina Suder of Cumberland, Md., and Kathleen Brown of Wildwood, N.J. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of the Roanoke United Methodist Home on Wednesday, September 25, at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Robert Chapman and Mr. N. L. Bishop officiating. YEAROUT, Celesta E., 81, of Floyd, passed away Saturday, September 21, 1996 in a Roanoke hospital. Surviving include one son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Dayle Yearout, Floyd; one grandson, Monty Shane Yearout, Floyd; one sister, Elsie Spangler, Floyd; one brother, Clarence Yearout, Floyd. YOPP, Freddie Lee, 83, of Salem, died Sunday, September 22, 1996. Arrangements by John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home, Salem.

YOUNG, George Pepper Carroll, 94, of Wytheville, died Friday, September 20, 1996 in the Wythe County Community Hospital. He was a retired prominent Wythe County Attorney. Mr. Young was the son of the late Bascom Wills Young and Adelaide Dodamead Young. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Hoge Young and Bascom B. Young, M.D., and a sister, Hannah Wickline. The Virginia native attended high school in Blackstone, Va. and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Virginia. He began his career after graduation from the University of Virginia Law School. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity, The Raven Society and the Virginia State Bar. In the late 1920's he settled in Wytheville where he practiced law for well over half a century. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and special friends, Preach and Dee Phillips. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 1996 at the Barnett Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, Va. at a later date. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorial contributions to the Wythe County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 389, Wytheville, Va. 24382. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville, Va. is in charge of the arrangements.
