ANGLE, Eunice Fleshman, 86, of Sunnybrook Drive, N.W. Roanoke, passed away Sunday, September 22, 1996, in a Roanoke Hospital. Retired from the Roanoke County School System, she worked in the cafeteria at Mountain View Elementary School with some 15 years service. Mrs. Angle previously worked at the former American Viscose. She was a long time member of Bethany Christian Church. Mrs. Angle was predeceased by her husband Terrell D. Angle. Surviving are two daughters, Bonnie A. Cobb and her husband Ellis H. Cobb, Pittsburgh, Pa., Zona G. Angle, Roanoke; brother, Howard F. Fleshman and his wife Beatrice A. Fleshman, Roanoke; sister, Bernice F. Rushbrooke, Roanoke; three grandchildren, Anita V. Knestaut, Lori C. Kosco and her husband Michael Kosco, Tina R. Cobb; three great-grandsons, Jonathan, Daniel, and Andrew Knestaut; four nieces; four nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 1996 from Oakey's North Chapel. The Reverend Jim Rivers and the Reverend Carlton Lyons will officiate. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. Flowers will be appreciated, but any who prefer may make memorials to Roanoke County Rescue Squad #5 or Bethany Christian Church. BARTON, Clara Duncan, 71, of Christiansburg, died Saturday, September 21, 1996, at her home. Survivors include a special friend, Janice Hodge, and her family. Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, at the Mt. Top Mission, 2960 Roanoke Street, conducted by Rev. Claude T. Dove. BEAVERS, Mabel Virginia, 75, of Aberdeen, Md., died Friday, September 20, 1996 at her home. Born July 22, 1921 at Chatham Hill, Va. she was a daughter of the late Leslie P. and Effie Jane Gullion Incscore. She had made her home in Aberdeen, Md. for the past 42 years. She was a member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church at Aberdeen, Md. She retired from Beta Shoe Company at Belcamp, Md. after 34 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Jack Beavers Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Janet Harrison, North Tazewell, Va.; three brothers, Clyde Inscore, North Tazewell, Va., Clarence Inscore, Prestonsburg, Ky., and Clifford Inscore, Hallsville, Missouri; one sister, Minerva Elizabeth McGee, Roanoke, Va.; two grandchildren, Carolyn Hodge and Clarence ``Eddie"" Harrison; two great-grandchildren, Jason Edward Hodge and Rebecca Allison Hodge. CROWDER, Vera Frances, 74, of Salem, died Monday, September 23, 1996 in Lewis-Gale Hospital. She was a long-time Salem resident and had retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. after 30 years of service. She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church for 46 years, with life membership in the United Methodist Women and was a also a loyal member of the Chancel Choir and Handbell Choir. Survivors include two sisters and a brother-in-law, Arvetta and Bob Moss, of Smithfield, Almeda Arlie Vaughn of Fries; nieces and nephews, Ruth C. DYE, Jean Hart, 71, of 1953 Peakland Dr., Pulaski, left this earthly place for her Heavenly home on Monday, September 23, 1996. Mrs. Dye was a faithful member of the Draper Valley Baptist Church and a retired employee of the Dublin Garment Co., Dublin, Va. She was born on May 10, 1925 in North Carolina and she was the daughter of the late Byram and Ada Davis Hart. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William H. Dye and by a sister and brothers, Mrs. Orpha Wilcox, French A. Hart, Howard R. Hart, Vaughn Hart and Kermit Hart. Surviving are her children, Mrs. Melody D. Smith, Pulaski, Mrs. Brenda D. Groth, Elko, Nevada, Mr. John W. Dye, Pulaski and Mr. Timothy D. Dye, Ferrum; sisters and brother, Mrs. Mae Gambill, Nottingham, Penn., Mrs. Mabel Hayden, Marion, Mr. H. C. She was employed by the Oaks at Richfield as a CNA and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints before her battle with cancer. GASPARD, Betty Jo, 58, of Floyd, passed away in a Radford Hospital on Monday, September 23, 1996. She was a member of Floyd United Methodist Church, Floyd United Methodist Women, and a Past Worthy Matron of McDaniel Chapter #47 of Order of Eastern Star, Christiansburg, Va. Born in Charleston, W.Va., she moved to Floyd County in 1982. She was preceded in death by her mother, father & one brother ""Jack"". Survived by husband, Marshall J. Gaspard, Floyd; one son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Gaspard and Donna Chinauct, Floyd; one daughter, Beth Gaspard, Floyd; one grandson, Rusty Lee Gaspard, Floyd; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary June and Thurl Combs, Charleston, W. JONES, Ruby Anderson Williams, 80, of 143 Fifth St., N.W., Pulaski, died Sunday, September 22, 1996 in the Pulaski Community Hospital. She was born in Pulaski County on March 1, 1916, and was the daughter of the late Charlie R. Anderson and Inie Ryan Anderson. She was also preceded in death by husbands, William R. Williams and Frank I. Jones; by two sons, Frank L. Williams and W. Charles Williams; by four brothers; and four stepchildren. She was a member of the Bob White Boulevard Church of God, Pulaski. KINZER, Ethel Payne, 88, of Christiansburg, died Monday, September 23, 1996 in a Radford hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthu r and Clara Payne; her husband, A. Lynwood Kinzer; three brothers, Leslie, Joe and Tommy Payne; and a sister, Hazel P. Hughes. Surviving are a daughter, Frances Lynn Roop, Christiansburg; a granddaughter, Terri R. Edwards and her husband, Steve; a great-granddaughter, Rachel Lynn Edwards, all of Richmond; two sisters, Alma P. Simpkins, Mary P. Palmer, both of Christiansburg; several nieces and nephews. She was a long time member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where the funeral will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Douglas W. Kanney. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery. KIPPS, Michael Smith, (``Mike''), 95, of Blacksburg, died Monday, September 23, 1996, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was born on December 30, 1900, on the family farm located on the outskirts of Blacksburg, to the late John Taylor and Nannie Smith Kipps. In June of 1935, he married Nellie Talley of Clarksville, who preceded him in death. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy K. and Ray Hughey, King George, and Michele ``Mickey'' K. and Bob DuBose, Bozeman, Mont; a granddaughter, Jo Hughey Morrison, New Windsor, Md.; a grandson, Michael Raymond Hughey, Indianapolis, Ind.; and a sister, Frances Mae Kipps, Blacksburg. A lifelong resident of Blacksburg, he was educated in the Montgomery County schools and attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute, where he received a B.S. in Agronomy in 1923, and a M.S. in Agronomy in 1926. He did post-graduate work at Michigan State University in 1929-30. Mike was Professor Emeritus of Agronomy at VPI&SU, where he spent his professional life. He was the co-author and author of a textbook in Field Crops, which was used in most land grant colleges in the United States and in many abroad. The American Society of Agronomy in 1967 recognized his contributions to his profession by electing him a Fellow, their highest honor. He retired from teaching in June 1967. Mike was a very active Rotarian as evidenced by his 65 year perfect attendance record. He served as President of his Rotary Club for the 1938-39 year, and he served on most of the regular committees and many special ones, particularly those dealing with the history of the Blacksburg-Christiansburg Rotary. He was the second Paul Harris Fellow so honored by his club. Mike was a leading churchman, being a member of the Blacksburg Baptist Church. He served on most church boards and committees, including church clerk, deacon, and historian. He served the church as a Sunday school teacher, Baptist Student Union advisor, and as a Trustee. Mike was also a dis tinguished Mason with a record which contains most of the highest honors given in the respective bodies. He has been a Master Mason since September 15, 1922; a Royal Arch Mason since April 21, 1923; a member of Commandery since May 1924; and a member of Kazim Temple, the Royal Order of Scotland; and the Radford-Montgomery County Shrine Club. He was Master of Hunter's Lodge No. 156 in 1925, District Deputy Grand Master in 1932, and District Deputy Grand High Priest of the 9th Capitular District in 1932. He served the Blacksburg Royal Arch Chapter as High Priest in 1931, and as Grand Marshall of the Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons in 1972-73. He was a Charter Member of Blacksburg Commandery No. 32, where he was Commander in 1929, and a member of Bayard Commandery No. 15 from from 1924-28. He was a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ingles Chapter No. 96, serving as Worthy Grand Patron in 1936. He was a charter member of the Knight York Cross of Honor and Knight Commander Court of Honor. He was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. Mike Kipps led a full and satisfying life in his many roles as son, brother, husband, father, educator, author, churchman, Rotarian, and Mason. Most of all he was a friend to many and a shining example to all. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, September 25, 1996, at 10 a.m. at Blacksburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Don McKinney and Dr. Ray Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg, with a graveside service held by Hunter's Lodge No. 56 A.F. & A.M. Friends may call after noon and the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 1996, with a memorial service at 8 p.m. by the Order of the Eastern Star, Ingles Chapter No. 96, at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg. PATTISON, Robert Brown, (``Pat""), 90, of Vinton, passed away Monday, September 23, 1996 in a local hospital. He was a member and Deacon of First Christian Church, Vinton, for over 65 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias. Mr. Pattison was a retired Machinist from the Norfolk and Western Railway East End Shops and was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Thelma C. Pattison. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Norma P. and Douglas K. Wirt, Roanoke; a son and daughter-in-law, James R. and Margaret J. Pattison, Blue Ridge; grandchildren, Laura W. and Rev. VEST, Mattie C., 78, of Christiansburg, beloved mother, g randmother, and great-grandmother, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, September 22, 1996. She was born on March 2, 1918 in Wise County. She was a lifetime member of the Vicker Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ancel C. Vest. Those who will miss her, but whose hope is in the Lord Jesus are daughters and sons-in-law, Elsie and Randolph Sheppard, Alta and Lonnie Caldwell, all of Christiansburg, Betty and David Cox, Roanoke; one son and daughter-in-law, Otis and Ida Davis, Virginia Beach; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Draxie Salyers, Pound; one brother, Willard Collins, Fredericksburg; extended family, nieces, nephews and friends. YOUNG, George Pepper Carroll, 94, a retired prominent Wythe County attorney, died Friday, September 20, 1996, in the Wythe County Community Hospital. He was the son of the late Bascom Wills Young and Adelaide Dodamead Young. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Hoge Young and Bascom B. Young, M.D.; and a sister, Hannah Wickline. The Virginia native attended high school in Blackstone and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Virginia. He began his career after graduation from the University of Virginia Law School. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity, the Raven Society, and the Virginia State Bar. In the late 1920's, he settled in Wytheville where he practiced law for well over half a century. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Preach and Dee Phillips. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 24, 1996, at 7 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel. Interment will be Thursday, September 26, 1996, at 3 p.m. in the Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorial contributions to the Wythe County Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 389, Wytheville, Va. 24382. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements.
