Teen, citing harassment, drops VMI plans
Christiansburg High School senior Kathy Kreye dropped plans to apply to Virginia Military Institute after she told The Roanoke Times in June that she wanted to join the first class with women - but then was harassed by strangers. She says now she thinks she'll attend Virginia Tech, where women have been part of the Corps of Cadets so long that gender is not an issue. For details, see today's front page.
