BERRY, Jean McClure, 60, of Chilhowie, died Tuesday, September 24, 1996, at Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Berry. She was a member of Chilhowie Christian Church. Mrs. Berry is survived by one s on and daughter-in-law, Dean and Lisa Berry of Chilhowie; one daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Herbert Phibbs of Yorktown, and two grandchildren, Brandon Phibbs and Kayla Berry. DVORAK, Constance E., 63, wife of John J. Dvorak of 368 Old Zoar Rd., Monroe, Conn., died Saturday, September 21, 1996, in Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was born in Saltville April 3, 1933, daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth Smith. She was a resident of Monroe, Conn. for 20 years. Surviving besides her husband are three sons, John, Timothy, and James Dvorak; one daughter, Pamela L. Dvorak, all of Monroe, Conn.; three brothers, Donald Smith of South Carolina, Wayne and Roger Smith of Virginia; two sisters, Maisie Cahill and Elizabeth Briscoe, both of Virginia. FOREMAN, William E., (``Bill''), 67, of Blacksburg, died Tuesday, September 24, 1996, at L ewis-Gale Hospital, Salem. Mr. Foreman was born in Columbus, Ohio on September 6,1929 to the late Ira and Helen Marie McCarthy Foreman. Mr. Foreman was a retired Associate Professor in the Mining and Minerals Engineering Department at Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University from 1957-1989. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy E. Foreman; three sons, Douglas Edwin Foreman, Columbia, S.C., John Timothy Foreman, Louisville, Ky., and Michael Robert Foreman, Gastonia, N.C.; four grandchildren, Allison Elaine Foreman, Andrew Scott Foreman, Austin Robert Foreman, and Kinsey Marie Foreman. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 27, 1996, at 10 a.m. at Blacksburg Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kathy Carpenter officiating. HARRISON, Marcus, 84, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 1996. He was retired from the Veteran's Administration Medical Center after 40 years of service. Mr. Harrison was a life time member of Central United Methodist Church in Salem and a veteran during World War II. He was a member of the 3rd Infantry Division at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. He was most proud of his role as Santa Claus in the Salem Christmas Parade for over 35 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Billy J. Harrison. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen B. Harrison; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Deborah Harrison, David and Darlene Harrison; daughter, Shirley Dowdy; grandchildren, Jason and Brandy Harrison, Mark and Delores Harrison, Craig, Caleb and Joshua Harrison; four great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Warren and Hazel Harrison, Alvin and Helen Harrison; sisters, Vera Tatum, Ollie Gilbert; several nieces and nephews. ROCK, William F., (``Bill''), 61, of Roanoke, died Saturday, September 21, 1996. He was employed by Roanoke Hospital Association and Carilion Health System since February 9, 1981. Bill was instrumental in the development of Carilion Health System's Credit & Collection Services. He was a member of the Board of Directors and served as vice president and chief operating officer of SCA Credit Services, Inc. and MedKey, Inc., was director of Patient Accounting and Administration and was operations manager for Carilion's Eligibility Assistance Service. Bill authored a successful book, ``The Hospital Owned Collection Agency Venture''. Bill was executive director and president of the National Health Care Collector's Association during the period of 1986 to 1993. He was an honorary life board member from 1993 until the present time. He was the president of the National Health Care Finance Association from 1993 until the present time. Bill was also in many other financial organizations. Bill's community activities included being present chairman of the board of the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Western Va., where he had been a member since 1989; a board member and former chairman of the Blue Ridge Small Business Development Center; board member and co-chairman of the Mill Mountain Theater Cork and Curtain Fund Raiser. He was an advisory board member of the Virginia Tech College of Hu man Resources from 1994 until now. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Lynn Rock, Roanoke; children and stepchildren include: Bill Rock, Syracuse, N.Y., Kim Bedsole, Patricia Folnsbe, Christopher W. Coffey, all of Jacksonville, Fla., Mark Michnick, Syracuse, N.Y.; several grandchildren, including Sydney, Anita, Sara, Candace and Philip. Bill is also survived by his mother, Beatrice Rock, Syracuse, N.Y.; one brother, Edward Rock, Michigan; one sister, Barbara Grabosky, Syracuse, N.Y. Memorial services will be held at the Unity Church, 3300 Greenridge Rd., Roanoke, at 2 p.m. Thursday, with the Rev. James A. Fisher officiating. SHELTON, Frank Carter, Sr., 89, of 2526 North Main Street, Danville, died Tuesday, September 24, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center. Born on September 25, 1906, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Chess Shelton and Aurelia Jennings Shelton. Mr. Shelton was a member of Midway Baptist Church and resided in Gretna for the past 25 years. Prior to moving to Gretna, he resided in the Ringgold Community and was very active in Ringgold Baptist Church. Mr. Shelton was a farmer prior to retirement. Mr. Shelton married Eva Simpson Shelton, who died in 1964. He later married Lucy Younger Shelton, who died in 1993. He is survived by a daughter, Aurelia S. Gibson of Radford; two sons, Bill Shelton of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Bob Shelton of Hurt; a half brother, Ollie Shelton of Gretna; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Shelton Cole of Danville; four stepsons, Swanson Younger, Bobby Younger, Billy Younger and Donnie Younger; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren, and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Frank C. Shelton and James C. (``Wimp"") Shelton. Funeral services will be conducted at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 26, with the Rev. Joe Burton and the Rev. Carl E. Burger officiating. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. SWART, James Hanson Jr., 5 8, of Huddleston, passed away suddenly Monday, September 23, 1996, in the Franklin Memorial Hospital. He was born January 27, 1938 in Washington, D.C., a son of the late James Hanson Swart Sr. and Mary Frances Cox Swart. He graduated from Herndon High School in Herndon in 1958, and worked at Dulles International Airport for 25 years, retiring in 1991 and moving permanently to Smith Mountain Lake. He was a member of the Smith Mountain Lake Ruritan Club and was co-owner of Shoreline Realty. He is survived by his wife, Miriam Stewart Swart; a sister-in-law, Barbara Barnes, Huddleston; a brother-in-law, Paul Stewart Jr. and his wife, Donna, Huddleston; his mother-in-law, Garnett Stewart, Leesburg; nieces and nephews, Robin Sizemore, Tripp Stewart, Charles Barnes Jr., Kitty Anne Tomkinson; five foster daughters, Donna, Allie, Elaine, Vickie, and Rose. Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, September 26, 1996, at 2 p.m. from the Swart/Barnes Cemetery, Huddleston, by the Rev. Homer Beeman. WHITMAN, Frederick E., 73, of Roanoke, died Monday, September 23, 1996, at his home. Born on March 1, 1923, in Roanoke, he was a son of the late Robert B. Whitman and the late Lillian Scranton Whitman. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of Southview United Methodist Church. Mr. Whitman was retired as part owner-manager of Wimmer Tire Company with over 30 years of service. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Lee Whitman. Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Alma W. Goldstein and Ben Goldstein of Illinois. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, September 26, 1996, from Oakey's North Chapel. The Rev.
