COURT PAPERS REVEAL PRICE OF RESTAURANT

The selling price of real estate involved in the recent sale of Charcoal Steak House in Roanoke was $500,000, according to documents filed this month in Roanoke Circuit Court.

Wayne Knowles, the former Hotel Roanoke head chef who bought the 39-year-old restaurant with a partner, Brian Murtagh, declined to give the sales price when they announced the transaction Aug. 19. Nor would the sellers, John and Tina Peroulas.

A deed of sale filed Sept. 3 reveals what the new owners paid for real estate. Knowles said the figure is "off" from what he and Murtagh actually paid for the business but said he could not elaborate, adding that the parties had agreed to keep terms confidential.
